For Hurst, Euless and Bedford residents
Water damage restoration in Hurst, TX starts with the main valve: close it, photograph the damage, then begin drying inside 24 to 48 hours. Standard homeowners forms leave out outside flood water. Hurst, Euless, Bedford and North Richland Hills can send a request here.
Which Hurst, Euless and Bedford addresses do you take requests from?
Callers needing water damage restoration in Hurst, TX write in from Bedford (76021, 76022 and PO box 76095), Euless (76039 and 76040), Hurst (76053 and 76054) and North Richland Hills (76180 and 76182). Each provider sets its own service area, so the one who phones you will say whether your street is inside it.
All four cities sit in northeastern Tarrant County, in the stretch between Dallas and Fort Worth that people call the Mid-Cities. Wikipedia counts 2,110,640 residents in the county at the 2020 Census.
West and south, the Fort Worth page covers the larger city. North is Grapevine and Southlake, and south of Bedford and Euless you will find Arlington and Mansfield.
Does Hurst flood?
Wikipedia describes no flood history for Hurst, Euless or Bedford, so this page will not make one up. It does show how little open water these cities hold. Bedford is 0.10% water, North Richland Hills is 0.24%, and Euless is listed as all land.
That points to a different kind of wet house here. Most calls start with a pipe, a roof, a water heater or a street drain that cannot keep up. The National Weather Service says DFW Airport averages 10.9 days a year with an inch of rain or more, and 46.5 days with thunderstorms.
IICRC S500 ranks water that comes in from outside as Category 3, the dirtiest class. Before you handle any of it, see flood cleanup, and check your lot with the flood zone guide.
How did the Mid-Cities grow, and why does that matter for old plumbing?
Much of it grew fast after 1950, so many houses are decades old. North Richland Hills shows the pattern. Wikipedia says its first subdivision began in 1952 on a 268-acre dairy farm, with 188 brick and masonry homes, and the town incorporated in 1953 with about 500 people.
The city had 8,662 residents in 1960, 16,514 in 1970 and 45,895 in 1990. Each wave of building brought its own pipes and water heaters, and many of those are now past their best years.
Ask a plumber to check supply lines, the water heater and the slab if your house is older. Most North Texas houses sit on concrete slabs and basements are rare, so a leak spreads across the floor. The slab leak guide lists the warning signs.
| City | 2020 population | Housing units | Vacant |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hurst | 40,413 | 16,309 | 4.2% |
| Euless | 61,032 | 26,450 | 6.2% |
| Bedford | 49,928 | 22,863 | 5.1% |
| North Richland Hills | 69,917 | 28,691 | 4.7% |
The counts come from Wikipedia's 2020 Census figures. They say nothing about the age of any one house, so check yours.
Who handles a leak when you rent in Euless or Bedford?
Report it to your landlord in writing, with photos, and keep a copy of every message you send. Renting is common here. Wikipedia says 56.1% of Euless residents lived in rented homes in 2020, and 46.5% of Bedford's occupied units were renter-occupied.
Texas HB 531 requires landlords to give flood notices for leases made or renewed on or after January 1, 2022. The notice covers floodplain location and flooding in the last five years.
A tenant cannot decide on repairs alone, so ask the landlord who will call the restoration provider. The apartment and condo guide explains how a leak from the unit above is handled, and your renters policy covers your belongings, not the building.

Do hailstorms cause water damage in the Mid-Cities?
They can, because hail opens a roof that then leaks in the next rain. The Mayfest Storm of May 5, 1995 is the example the National Weather Service documents for this area. Hail up to softball size fell on Tarrant and Dallas counties, with damage estimated at $2 billion.
The NWS also says more than 350 cars sustained hail or water damage in that storm. A roof hit that hard may look fine from the street and still let water through at the flashing or under cracked shingles.
After any hailstorm, check ceilings and attic edges over the next few rainy days. Our hail and roof leak guide and the page on roof leaks after storms cover what to photograph.
What did the February 2021 freeze do to Mid-Cities pipes?
Wikipedia and local sources give no Hurst or Euless pipe counts, so use the regional record. The NWS says DFW Airport stayed at or below freezing for 139 straight hours in February 2021 and dropped to -2 F on February 16. Pipes in attics and garages were exposed.
The Texas Department of Insurance counted 511,473 claims statewide, with an average residential loss of about $17,800. Closing an average residential claim took 61.4 days.
If your water heater or lines are in an attic or garage, insulate them before the next hard freeze. The 2021 winter storm page and the frozen pipe prevention guide have the steps.
Does a policy cover water that comes in from outside?
Generally no, and that surprises many owners. Per Triple-I, standard homeowners and renters forms leave out flood, which takes its own policy. The NAIC adds that ground water and rain runoff fall outside typical cover, and FEMA states that most homeowners insurance excludes flooding.
Water from inside the plumbing, or through a storm-damaged roof, is treated differently and is usually a covered loss. Sewer backups are another exception, since Triple-I says they need a separate endorsement.
Put your questions to the agent before any work order is signed. See the insurance claims guide for what to photograph, and work authorization for what your signature commits you to.
What happens in the first two days after a leak?
Those two days set the repair bill for most wet houses. The EPA says water-damaged areas and items should be dry within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth, and the clock starts when the water stops. Work in this order.
- Close the main water valve, then cut power to soaked rooms only if you can reach the panel safely.
- Take photos and video of everything before you move a thing.
- Phone your insurer and learn what paperwork it wants first.
- Ask each provider which readings they take and how they log drying progress.
- Keep indoor humidity under 60 percent, with 30 to 50 as the EPA's ideal.
A longer list sits on the emergency page, and mold after water damage covers growth that has already started.
